My name is Annabelle Calder and I am so happy to be teaching Kindergarten at Canyon Rim Academy! I love having a wonderful time learning and growing together with my students!
I graduated from the University of Utah in Elementary Education and Music - Harp Performance. Before teaching Kindergarten, I student taught in a Gifted 1st grade classroom and was a teacher at Palmer Preschool. Learning is so important to me. I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Reading, Language, and Literacy Education through the University of Utah. I am certified through the University of Utah Reading Clinic in the Next Steps and Higher Steps Reading programs.
I play the harp, piano, guitar, violin, and ukulele, and I love to sing. I teach guitar and harp lessons and am a certified "Let's Play Music" teacher, teaching group piano and singing lessons. I love creating and teach art classes in the summer. Last fall, I married my husband Dallen, who is starting his first year of Medical School at the University of Utah.
Kindergarten is such an important year! We will learn so many new concepts and skills that will help us become active, independent, and creative thinkers. We will read stories, problem solve, and build a strong foundation so students gain a love of learning to last a lifetime. Kindergarten is not only a time for academic learning, but a time to grow socially and emotionally as well. You will find our classroom allows discovery through active hands-on exploration, as our math, science, social studies, and language arts curriculum is enriched with music, art, and poetry. Our classroom environment will be engaging, positive, safe, and happy. I strive to build each child's self-esteem and confidence as they stretch to try new things.
