My name is Dayna Shoell, and I am the Reading Specialist at Canyon Rim Academy. I get to work with both the teachers and the children at CRA to help students gain the literacy skills they need to enjoy life and succeed in school.
When I graduated from college I taught ninth-grade English, then worked as a freelance editor while my four children were small. A couple of them had difficulty learning to read, and as I tried to find ways to help them, I developed a passion for the field of literacy development and decided I wanted to return to education so I could help children like mine, who need some extra support in reading. I went back to college to earn a master’s degree in reading and literacy, and now I get to read, write, help kids, and collaborate with a whole range of adults who are part of the Canyon Rim Academy community.
